What is fiberglass waterproofing?
A seamless membrane bonded directly to the substrate, forming one continuous barrier. Unlike sheet membranes or pan liners there are no overlaps or joints for water to find, which is why it's used where a leak would be expensive to fix.
How long is the warranty, and what does it cover?
Every installation we do is warrantied for the life of the structure it is installed in, and it runs with the building rather than with the owner. The membrane is what we build and the membrane is what we stand behind: if water gets through the system we installed, that is ours to put right. Fiberglass does not degrade the way a traditional liner does, so it lasts as long as the building does. If you have one of ours and have a question about what it covers, call the office and ask.
Why can you offer a warranty that long?
A warranty is a statement about how often something fails. Ours is long because the failure modes that shorten most waterproofing warranties are not present in a seamless bonded membrane. A pan liner is a flat sheet folded into a box, taped at the corners and clamped at the drain: it has joints by design, and joints are what age. Fiberglass is formed as one continuous layer bonded to the substrate, so there is no lap to separate, no fold to open and no tape to let go as the house settles.
Do you test the pan before the tile goes down?
The plumbing code test is specific: drain plugged watertight, the pan filled to at least two inches measured at the threshold, held at least fifteen minutes, checked for any evidence of leakage. A pan that holds water on the day it is built is not going to start leaking because someone tiled over it. That is the point of testing before the tile goes down rather than finding out afterwards. Can you do curbless and linear drain showers?
Yes, and they're a good fit for this system. There's no liner to fold around a linear drain, so the detail that's normally a headache becomes straightforward.
